i got bored today and have nothing to do so I decided to go strip my car down. now after striping it down i went to Autozone and brought myself 5 cans of 3M rubberized undercoat. then i came back home and decide to be lazy to strip the stock sound deadening off so is it ok if I just spray the 3M over the stock sound deadening? would it be better to not be lazy and take the stock one out first????

thxs guys

Probably just my car but....I never used the dry ice. I went out on a warm(75-80*) day and took a putty knife and just peeled all the sound deadening out. It literally just came out in huge sheets. There were a couple spots where it left residue, so i just blasted it with brake cleaner and wiped it off.

Make sure once you get the old out, rought up the paint a little so the undercoat sticks well.

Take it for somebody that has a bodyshop...this is what your looking for...Trust me

http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog...talog

OR at half the price

http://www.harborfreight.com/c...95924

These things are great, it's like a wirer brush on a drill but 10x better and faster.

Only one warning, well maybe two...First safety when your using these wear gloves, googles, ect.

second and most important, when you use them because of the way they spin they leave super fine almost chips, i mean you can barely see them. The problem is that if you use this tool and make a bare metal area, you have to seal/prime fairly quikly within a day should work. If you don't micro rust will start in those tiny little specs...and trust thats a pain in the A$$

Good luck

I didnt have to work to hard to get my deadner out. I used a hammer and a putty knife and it came right up.

I used that 3m undercoating after I stripped all the interior, it works good my only complaint is it scratches easily but I don't really care b/c carpet and interior will be covering it anyway I used it mainly to deaden some noise

would primer work inside the car as the final outcome?

like after sound dead spray primer and leave it alone and reinstall interior?

dry ice is the best and lazyest way to do it. that happens is it makes the metal and the sound deadining contract differently, this difference makes the two layers seperate. meaning just take a hammer and crack the deadining. it works alot better on a hot day.

regular primer holds in moisture and mosture turns into rust.

dont worry about it comming off, it's not as bad as it sounds. he's really taking about the way it looks. it looks mint going on but after u put something on it, there will be marks left.

Did you buy this stuff?

It came out good on the interior but I don't think it would hold up to abuse on the undercarriage of the car I'm going to get some truck bed liner and brush it on under the car.
