Rubber strips on roof

03 QX4. There are some rubber rub strips on the roof, I dunno, 4 of them? 5? An inch, inch and a quarter wide. Anyway, I'm going to have to do something to the paint and it's failing clearcoat, so how are they attached? Double face taped on? Fit into a hole? Other?

Check the FSM, should have something about them in the Body section.

Admittedly I didn't check it, although I did search the forum. But since your suggestion I've gone over BT pages 33-40 5 times and I can't find a word about them. They aren't even shown on the illustrations.

They are pieces of the roof without separate part numbers. Likely to be stuck on with automotive double-sided adhesive tape. Same as my Pathfinder.

It probably is only 3, although in my minds eye I see more. Regardless, I think you know what I'm talking about. Tape would be adequate to hold them in place, and peeking under the edge it kind of looks that way, but I've also run across things like this on cars over the years where there was more than met the eye and it snapped in or plugged in or whatever.

I'm overdue for a trip to Pick and Pull where I could brute force it apart if needed, but as you probably are already, I'm getting locked down again starting tomorrow with the bloody pandemic and trying to abide by the spirit of the guidelines. Grrrrrr.
