I wonder how important it is to tighten bushing bolts with the car on the ground. As I understand, the bushing need to be set at normal ride height before final torqueing, so they don't bind and break.
This means whenever you adjust the ride height, all control arms with rubber bushing need to be temporarily unbolted then retorqued at new height. I don't see this done when people install lowering springs or coils.
I just changed my tension rods and had difficulty tightening the nuts while the car was on the ground. So to approximate normal ride height, I put the car on jack stand, jacked the FLCA until the car just started to rise, and tightened the tension rod nuts to spec. Is this hack OK?
