On a recent hot day, my wife released the hood, and found two loose rubber bumpers when she opened the lid. It seems they had been pressed into holes under the hood lid, and in the heat they stuck to the frame when the lid was raised. The bumpers seem to have been designed to compress when the lid is closed, to prevent it from rattling against the frame.

It really seems that the mounting design of these bumpers is flimsy. We didn't want to press them back in only to have them pop out again.

We'll take this up with the dealer next time.

Meanwhile, has anybody else encountered this problem?

Was there a better solution?

If you are talking about the triangle shaped rubber bumpers on each side of the fender then yes they have come out on me too, I wash the engine like every 4 months and when I dry the fender lip where the hood meets the fender these bumpers come out. Also this last time when I opened the hood this bumper was not even there thank god it fell into the engine area I was able to dig it out and put it back in place. No idea how to "glue" it down.

Those rubber bumpers are actually designed to screw in, and it's this threaded design that allows you to adjust the hood. Early on my '08 Rogue had a hood rattle issue when hitting bumps, and all it took to correct the problem was to unscrew the rubber bumpers a couple turns to compress the hood and the rattling was gone.

When you turn mine, they are quite tight and I'm sure there is no way they could pull straight out considering they are threaded, so the only way to remove them is to turn counterclockwise.

Perhaps yours are defective, the dealer should inspect and provide a solution, as these are very important components and they should stay securely in place.

I believe he is talking about the triangle shaped bumper in the middle of the fender lip just above the tire they are just pushed into the fender lip, if you open the hood you will see what I am talking about. You are talking about the front part of the fender that adjusts for hood alignment.

I had the rubber things near the latch come out (went to open the hood and thought stopper was latch and pulled it out  ) it was a PITA to put it back in but then i realized there's a hole in it so i took a metal coat hangar put it in the hole and easily popped em back in...don't know if these are the same stoppers your talking about :)

As I posted earlier, one of our little rubber bumpers was lost when they both came out (I pressed the other back in myself), so the dealer ordered a replacement.

I went to have a look - there may be a better solution for Rogues newer than 2008, but the replacement was the same press-in part.

Then I'm told the car has to be brought in on an appointment because it is a warranty item! This would be an inconvenience for my wife, who takes the car to the office and works long hours each day.

The only relief from the parts guy I talked to - put some heat-resistant metallic tape on the frame where the bumper makes contact, so lifting the hood on a hot day doesn't cause the bumpers to stick there and rip out from the hood again. Grrr.

UPDATE:

Wife brought the car to the dealer during lunchtime for her "warranty repair," they applied some sort of adhesive to the rubber bumpers before re-inserting them. (fingers crossed)

When shopping for the Rogue, I opened the hood release on a floor model and thought that the bumper was the release and pulled it loose. I put it back together after opening the hood correctly.
Thanks to this lesson, I have never pulled mine loose.

We first ran into this problem on the road on a hot day. Released the hood lid. When we lifted the lid (without touching the rubber bumpers), the bumpers were out and sticking to the chassis above the radiator.
