i think its about goddamn time. i dont even own a 360, and no the rrod is not the ONLY reason i dont have one, but that is ridiculous. they just keep on putting out temporary fixes instead of just fixing the s***. elite, jasper..... i hope this "final solution" actually works. i mean jesus, my friend has already gone through 3 of the damn things.i cannot even begin to explain my hatred and utter contempt ofr that kind of crap. not just the 360, but in avery other thing that this happens with. hell, a bandaid on a broken bone works better than this. if you stay off it the bone will heal. maybe not the right way, but hell it was a bandaid. it wasnt 200 or 300 bucks

That video BLOWS. It didn't say anything we haven't known for years. No specifics on what's changing. Nothing.

The Jasper chipset could be promising, but its still too early to tell. And even places like Anandtech can only make educated speculation at best. Until MS says what they actually did or someone figures it out, I don't think we'll know. And I doubt MS will detail the specifics given the number of 360's already on the market.

the RROD is easily fixed if you know anything about computers, When i got the RROD i took my xbox apart removed the x-clamps that hold the GPU and CPU down and then replaced them with screws, I also put new thermal paste on each one, put everything back together and it works like a new xbox.

It is quite simple. You can even buy all the components you need off of eBay, and it will come with very detailed instruction. I fixed my old Premium system in this manner, but bought an Elite in the meantime. Now I got an old 360 to sell. Any takers? $150 and it's yours...

I have a second xbox that I repaired like this, I didn't even bother putting it back in the case, it looks ghetto as hell but at least it will never overheat again.

the only thing i am worried about now is the dvd drive, but now you can install games to it, so it is easier on the drive and it makes the system quieter.

I'm on my third 360. My Elite did the red ring last month. I'm going to get it replaced and sell the new one. I'll stick with PS3 and Wii from now on.
