I feel really foolish asking this question... but here goes:

Does anyone know the function of the CAT portion of the RPT/CAT button on a G35 without the Bose system? The owners manual has been no help at all.

I have a 2005 Sedan without the satellite radio and Bose options.

I know the RPT function of this button when playing CDs, but the CAT has me stumped.

I'll also post this question in the audio forum, but that forum doesn't see as much traffic as this one.

I don't think it serves any purpose without satellite, but I may be mistaken.

CAT stands for category. You can look up stations by news, rock, talk, etc. without hearing every station.

This doesn't work without the bose system, or non-premium cars.

Bugaboo is correct; it’s for the category function using the satellite radio-if so equipped. The " >>| or |<< “ accomplishes the same thing.
