Hi all, been a while since I participated.

I have a 3.5 CVT A/C and love it, have had it since June 2 and am up to a little under 4500 miles on it. When I turn the engine on, it seems to roar a little too loud and the tach shows the RPMs a little over 1000. Even when idling at a stop light or in stop and go traffic it never seems to dip below 1000. Is this normal? What's everyone else's do? I only ask because I'm comparing this with my wife's Trailblazer which idles somewhere between 500 and 1000 RPMs. Appreciate any input.

Thanks.

I dunno about the 3.5 but my 2.5 idles somewhere between 600-1000.

Mine is a 3.5 and at cold start its roughly around 2,000 and works it way down to 700-1000, which takes a little over a minute. When its warmed up it idles at 700.

Wow... the 2.5 and the 3.5 must be extremely different animals (besides the obvious )! I can't believe it idles that high until it warms up... I'll have to pay attention to it when I leave work tonight but I don't think my 2.5 has ever idled over 1k...

Yep, on a cold start the 3.5 is at about 1600 rpms and as it warms up dips down to about 800 rpms. Thats the case for me anyway.

As long as your coupe isn't idling abnormally high (2000) then I'd say 1000 rpms shouldn't be much to lose sleep over.

I have the 2.5 and start off at about 1600-1750. Works its way down to a little under 1000.

I just noted this morning since this question was brought up. Mine started out cold at 1600 and then went down to about 700ish when warmed up
