RPM signal for MSD SWITCH

after sending my #8969 msd switch in for a repair, i just got it back, installed it and got the same results again even though it checked out fine for them. rpm display would show for about 5 minutes, then read to zero and stay that way.

i first had it connected to the ECU rpm signal. Then behind the cluster, tapped into the TAM screw. now msd suggests tapping it into the IGNITION COIL TRIGGER wire.

Where can i find this?

and has anyone else been experiencing this kinda of issue? where do you have yours hooked up?

its a digital rpm activated switch for my 00vi.i spoke w/ 3 people at msd and looks like i'm going to send it in again for repair...hopefully they'll replace it w/ a new unit instead
