I WAS wondering what some RPM's at certain speeds with the cvt? wondering if mine is working correctly?70mph- 2200 rpm80mph-2800 rpm60mph- 2000rpm

I'm just wondering what other V cvt owners are getting?

another thing is the V cvt sucks the first few feet of take off.I was playing around with a co-worker at a stop light we take off and she has a stick. she beat me the first few feet and then the V roared past her but the take off sucks is there anything that will help? 20mph after that it has great pick-up for a little car. I do understand what kind of car it is and I just feel sporty and want more

The answer to sportiness is always a manual transmission. Automatics have sucky launches because they are designed to be easily drivable in stop and go or city traffic.

On a traditional automatic, you can put in a different torque converter and change how it launches, but this also affects drivability.

Also, with a CVT, your "RPMS" at a certain speed may not match someone else's, since a good part of its determination of gearing is how hard you are pressing the gas. You could be turning closer to 2000 RPM at 40 mph if you are cruising, or 4000 or so if you are hammering the gas.

If your friend had a 6-speed Versa and you were able to overtake her, she was either not shifting correctly, or taking it easy. The 6-speed should not be overtaken by a CVT until near the top of 6th gear.... every comparison test between the two so far shows that the 6-speed should always beat the CVT down the quarter.

Your rpm list sounds right to me. With cruise on and a flat highway, my CVT runs right at 2000rpm at 60mph and 2500rpm at 75mph. (Works out to about 2350 at 70mph and 2700 at 80mph.)

For faster initial takeoff you can press the "OD Off" button on the shifter to turn "overdrive" off until you pick up some speed, but I'm happy with the regular setting. I drive 3000 miles per month, and try not to waste too much gas with hard acceleration.
