When revving the engine in neutral, I noticed the rpm is slow to come back down. With previous cars, it seemed I could “punch“ it repeatedly, and the rpm would quickly rise and fall, but with this car there’s momentary “delay” before coming down……. Also, when I move along at 20 mph, and punch it hard, the rpm momentarily pops up to 7000, before kicking in, and taking off. Is this normal?…….. ‘11 G37 AT.

Everything is electronic in our cars. The Drive by wire system is to blame for the neutral revving issue. The system protects itself from damage when in neutral. As for the 20mph punch, that's your transmission downshifting. If you set the car in DS mode, it will do it quicker or be in a lower gear so it's not as noticeable.

Sounds normal to me

OUr cars also do not show the true revs, it revs up faster than normal to give it the sportier feel
