So I noticed that when I accelerate or even just drive in my 2.5S 08 altima coupe that the RPMs will increase as long as my foot is pressing on the gas pedal and will never go down when it shifts and will only go down when I release off the gas, but also I never even hear my car shift and the noise is always the same sound given off. When I drive in my brothers car I can hear the different shifts and the RPMs will go up and shift and go down a little. But in mine it will forever increase, is this a problem with my car or are all altimas built like this? Any help would be great!!
Thanks for the help guys!!

Sounds like the case of CVT. It is the way your transmission works. it will never shift unless you go into manual mode. It is supposed to work and sound like that, on a cvt transmission of course.

Is there any way i could change it so that it works "normally" like my brothers car? cuz even when i do use the manual and i shift it still will make the same sound even when it reaches the same RPMs as in auto and when i do shift in manual the RPM still barely even go down, if it even goes down at all. Also lets say when i reach 50mph and i switch it over to manual, it will say i am in 5th gear but i never heard any shift at all (sorry i dont know much about cars at all).

you will never get the "normal" car feel. the transmission has unlimited gears, with sport mode being a set of ratio gears. even though it feels like your shifting, you really aren't. and also, you're car is MUCH faster in DRIVE mode than it is in SPORT mode.

CVT = Continuously variable transmission = no gears. do some reasearch on cvt engines, they're smoother than regular auto transmissions so many would say they're better than the "older" regular transmissions. don't be bummed that you car doesn't sound like your brothers cars, you should be showing off the fact that your car won't jerk around like your brothers cars will when they change gears.

Welcome you'll eventually get used to it, it is weird at first coming from a conventional auto car to a cvt but its much smoother.
