On my 91 240sx, if I floor my car all the way, i cannot get pass 5000 RPM. But if I step on it almost to half way, I can get to 7000 RPM. Im thinking my Mafs is not functioning right.

My check engine light went on so we did the dionostic test thing and it wouldn't read...what's wrong?

The car pulls hard, but right after it does, I get that rpm problem. I would want to fix it. Does anyone know how? Also, if you have a 91 240sx KA24DE manual mafs laying around, can I pick one up?

Replace simple things like the fuel filter, make sure the intake is not getting choked off either. Check vacuum lines. Pull the plugs and check their condition.

I checked the air filter, it is in great shape (brand new). I will start checking out the fuel one and spark plugs. It could be bad mafs right?

I'd do like nismofreak said and check all the little stuff first. Then I'd get the codes from the computer. The how to is in the .org FAQ. If you can't get the codes, take it to someplace that can read them for you. If you have a bad electrical component that is connected to the computer, you will know then. Normally if the MAFS is bad the computer goes into safety mode. You can't rev over 3 grand and it will have NO power and will run real rich. I don't think it's your MAFS, maybe the TPS. Check the codes and then you'll know.

Hmmm... Well it could actually. If the comp is getting wrong #'s it could be re-routing too much exhaust into the intake.

i couldn't hook up the comp to my nissan (no data sent, even though there was a hook up for it), so i had to do it manually in the passenger side. I got 35...what is it again??? i didn't understand what you just said.

Oh, I found the code problem but i don't understand it. I get the 35 code, which is the EGR Temp sensor...what is that?

Edit: Is it Exhaust gas temp. sensor? Which is bad? Could that cause my car not going pass 5K?
