RPM needle jumping ALL the time ....

so after the S-chassis car show and meet in anaheim couple days ago, while I was driving home I notice that my rpm needle is jumping up and down. it jump ALL the time, even if the car is not running ...... what can cause this??? o.O ... it is really annoying.....

(I searched already but all the thread that I searched have problem with the RPM needle jumping at a curtain RPM)

Possibly a bad ground. Check all the fuses.

Good idea. I should do that on my s13 too, since my temperature gauge does the same thing...

This is becoming the new saying for. "I don't know".

There could be a loose connection to the cluster, or from where the tach signal originates. Or the gauge itself can be going bad.

What cluster do you have? I gutted a HUD S13 cluster and have all the individual gauges laying around. If you need it you can have it.

would S13 gauge(s) fit into s14's cluster? o.O lol that would be cool! hehe

^^^ i had that problem with my old kouki and went to buy a new gauge from dealer .... fixed it

You have a bad tach, guaranteed. Buy a new one.

I bought another tach and it did the same thing so I thought it was something wrong with my car. Bought ANOTHER tach and it worked fine.

Yeah, mine just turned out to be a loose connection. I reseated it properly. Problem solved.
