What's up people! Before you proceed to try and smash my cajones into oblivion... Yes, Yes... I realize that the search button is available 24/7-365 and I've used it plenty. It's a library in here NICO is boss... I found a few threads mentioning a few rebuild kits for the KA, (I'm also trolling the KA-T.org forums for wisdom on the subject). Some companies mentioned no longer offer kits for the KA but one that still remains that I actually found doing my own research before I utilized the Nico search engine :naughty: was the kit available from RPM Machine... They have a few different ones available, starting at your standard "Major kit" all the way to the "Platinum kit" (not too expensive either) http://www.rpmmachine.com/engine-rebuil ... nder.shtml But I realize you get what you pay for and have no intention of playin the penny pincher, I'd rather spend the coin and do it right the first time through to have my ballzy daily idea be a reliable reality. They have another section available aside from the standard kits, which would be the "Performance rebuild kits". This caught my attention since I'm looking to keep the mighty 2.4, build it internally and prep it to slap on a turbine that sucks more than Kirby the pink pillowman himself... If anyone has bought this kit or no of anyone who has, my question is it worth the roughly $1900 for the full complete rebuild kit w/o cutting corners. Or would I better off just piecing the necessary materials together myself with name brand kingpins such as Crower and Eagle? Any wisdom from the Yoda's of Nico is appreciated. :werd:

I would want to know who they are getting the forged pistons and rods from. other than that, seems legit. just make sure you pull your old motor and send it to the machine shop to be cleaned up first. if you need to order oversize bearings or pistons the machine shop will tell you. I would imagine you will have the cylinders bored over to make sure they are perfect so you will def need oversize pistons. all things to have in mind while ordering motor parts.

Well, I got tired of searching online and took the lazy mans way out and gave them a call :chuckle: According to the rep on the phone the Forged Pistons are "SRP made by JE" and the H Beam Rods are "SCAT". Anyone have input on those items and the quality?

nothing wrong with either of those manufacturers, and the prices are about the same you would pay anywhere else.

That makes it easy then, a one stop shop indeed :dblthumb: I mean I hear good things about Eagle and Crower but your'e right. I've looked online and prices are about the same for Eagle rods and JE pistons at other sites. But you mentioned I should get the cylinders bored over? Should I get the 10.5 comp vs. the 9.0 since I plan on going turbo?

If you are going turbo stay 9:1. Are those the only options?

Yea on the site it has 2 options available; "Forged pistons for Turbo or All Motor, 9.0 or 10.5 Comp"... So 9.0 would be the way to go for turbo? I thought the original comp for the KA is 9.0, I just want to make sure I do it right the first time :bigthumb:

Original compression ratio is 9.5:1 IIRC but if you want to drop the compression a little just get a thicker HG.

Well I think when I make the specification of which comp. I'm using at RPMMachine when I place the order they would give me head gasket with the necessary thickness for the application wouldn't they? I was reading on KA-T.org forums about compression ratio for forged pistons, and the thread had replies stating that 8.9-9.1 would be perfect for a daily driver with 400hp??? I've been reading the stickies on turbo/rebuilds for noobs since this is my first KA rebuild/ first 240 to learn more on the subject... :woot:

So 9.1 over the 9.0 that is available? I'm going to have to give them a call back and ask them if they could do a 9.1 comp on request.

Huh? what I'm saying is they only sell the 9 to 1 compression pistons. If you get a thicker head gasket, it should drop you down to 8.8 or 8.9 to 1 compression which imo is safer. Is it that much of a difference? Not really.

I am REALLY happy that you posted this, as I was wondering the same things and I haven't seen this site yet. I am quite interested in the performance kit, and this looks like the best way to do it right for a first time KA build :)

I am going to be going with them too, and hopefully I will be able to start soon :) Please keep us updated on how your progress is, as it is helpful to me too.

Yea bro, I'm definitely gettin this kit. First performance purchase I'm doing that's major to my s14. I'll definitely be posting pix in the forums, I'm on here but mostly on Zilvia same name. It seems out of the two sites theres more traffic on the other one but I will definitely be updating and keeping both forums updated. :werd:
