hi there, i have a 1991 240sx ka24de. recently this has started to happen. normal driving on any gear. when i accelerate rpm increases normal, when letting off on the gas and then trying pressing on the gas again, the rpm drops suddenly hesitating to go up, after a few seconds though, the rpm increases back up to normal. this happens intermittently on any gear. could this be a maf problem. any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

thanks, don

I have a similar problem. I get to 25 mph and I will lose power for a couple of seconds, maybe 3. During this time the turbo is trying to work I hear it and see the boost gauge go up to about a half bar into the positive while I am slowing down but the motor would be bogging down and back fireing at this point and then all of the sudden with my foot barely on the pedal my car goes full throttle like im flooring it but it will not casually cruise through the gears. Its basically all or nothing. Its like its trying to make up for the lost time of gradual acceleration with full throttle performance. It also stalls on idle. Let me know what you find out.

MAFS. try cleaning yours or better yet see if you can borrow someone elses to test if yours is bad. Replace yours with the working one and see if you still have the problems

sounds like you're leaning out.. Do you have a wideband o2 sensor ? Is it running above 14.7? Also if you have an AFC might want to adjust it a bit make it a little richer.. I dont know what kind of setup you're running . I assume stock ecu.. Maybe it needs a reflash . I still feel like its a MAFS problem tho. Maybe you need to upgrade. Also with the BOV releasing into the atmosphere instead of recirculating .. That could cause unexpected pressure losses. What does your vaccuum read? Maybe a boost or vaccuum leak too. Anyway my $0.02
