Rpm gauge does not work after swap???

Hey, Well heres what I have, its a 89 240sx with a red top sr20 swapped in. The motor was previously in a 89 240sx with HUD, that swap was done by "The SR20 Shop", everything was fine as for gauges. As my friend had crashed his 240 he sold the motor to a buddy of mine, as we swapped the motor from one to the other. Everything runs perfect, only problem is that the Tachometer does not work, I checked the wiring(interface plug). The plug that is in there is the 89-90 white plug, iam not sure as what i can do for test. I forgot to mention the sr20 that the car came out of had HUD, and now this 240 does not, even though the same year and wiring as far as I can tell. Is there any test as to what I might be able to do? Any Sensors as far as I might be able to check? Thanks-Ricky

The tach wire is Yellow with a Red stripe on the dash plug. Check both sides to see if its getting a signal.

89-90 SOHC swap you must install a 91-94 gauge cluster as the tack Is a Voltage tack and not conpatable with the SR..

dohc tach will work but jdm tach is better cuz it goes to 9000.

you dont need to use the whole DOHC cluster u can just take the rpm gauge out and swap the two. there might be a thread or how to on the internet some where but u need to take the clear plastic off the cluster.... while ur in there u could also swap out the coolant temp gauge too

My JDM tach doesn't work ftl

It could be the tach. My jdm tach from the clip cluster works but the tach I took from another jdm cluster does not work. So either that one is broken or maybe it's from an automatic??

I doubt its from an auto because the cluster itself is a manual....well maybe you could be right, better swap the tachs
