rpm drops at 3k

just swapped an s14 sr20det into my s14, and now the car idles horibble for a few seconds then idles fine but when i rev the motor.. at about 3k rpm it stops and drops back to a rough idle. One of the guys that helped out with the swap said i need a boost sensor or a charcoal canistor. i have no idea what he meant by boost sensor.

if your car wont rev past 3krpm thats a pretty common problem with the Mass Air Flow sensor. MAF. Either the sensor is faulty or the wiring to it is no good. I'de check that first.
