So i hav had my car almost a year, it is a 95s14 with a rb20. I got it from someone here. So the problem is that when i turn off the car and the turbo timer is suppose to take over, the engine almost dies( sometimes it does). if i start it up and then turn it off so the turbo timer can take over it works fine.

I hope that makes sense.

What turbo timer? Also, there should be an 'idle adjust' also.

I believe it is a HKS type-1 black.

if you spliced into the factory engine speed wire make sure its still connection to the ecu, or that it has a good connection.

I didn't install it so I will have to take a look at it. I bought it already on the car.

I noticed that the RPM on the HKS timer is higher then that of the tachometer. Would this have something to do with it?

mine does the same thing...except my car idles fairly high so it's just a hicup, never stalls out or even gets close...didn't do it when I bought it (was preinstalled). haven't figured it out yet.

Also, mine reads the rpm high too...it always has, i think it's some setting or something (didn't get the manual with it). BTW, mine's an HKS too.

I too have this problem with the type-1. According to it, I'm not getting full boost until around 5000 rpm.

Anybody know why we are having troubles?...

sounds to me it's the wiring issue. your ecu/engine should not know about it when the key is removed, only when the timer expired.this will save your day with headache and always wondering if it was wired correctly: http://www.frsport.com/HKS-410....html

Yeah, I'm kinda thinking it's wiring related...I have a feeling it's something in the engine harness because I haven't really touched the chassis harness since I bought the car, but did extensive work on the engine harness.
