Ok, When the car is parked - 750 or so rpm. Turning on the A/C anywhere between 1-4, the rpms will rise to about 1k rpm.

However, when I'm in Drive (I have an auto), turning on the a/c at a stop (700-750 rpm), the rpms do not rise.

The A/C works, just the rpms don't go up, and monitoring this in certain conditions, this causes problems w/ powering everything I have on at the moment w/ just 700 rpms. A/C works fine and is cold and all otherwise.

Don't know where to first start checking for this as it seems weird.

Any help will be GREAT!Thanks

the idle is not really supposed to go up. its just supposed to hold steady. sometimes the ficd gets funky and will gain a few extra rpms or more frequently lose a few.

Ok, so I'm fine? .

It just seems weird because before I totally modified all this crap in my car - when I turned the a/c on, it would go up 200 or so rpm - which I believe was used to help power the a/c & a/c fan, etc.

ficd?

Thanks

ficd= fast idle control device for the ac system

located near the area where u adjust the idle w/ a screwdriver...zerothread?id=26039

Quote »The IACV-FICD valve allows air into the motor when the a/c system is on to compensate for the added strain of turning the compressor. This will bump the idle up if working properly.[/quote]i know in my car, this valve is working properly... it' ll bump up the rpms when the ac compressor engages & rpms will drop back to norm when compressor disengages.

u still dont have a manual for that car?
