RPM at cold start

Recently, I notice the RPM would jump to 3 and very loud from a cold start. It would usually go to 2 RPM. Is this normal? time for an oil change?

Ever since the cvt update, I notice my rpm's reving between 2500rpm-3000rpm when accelerating. My driving technique is having a lightfoot. As reported before, the rpm's are higher. Usually, I never go above 3000rpms with my style of driving. Before the update, I usually kept it between 2000rpm-2500rpms. I never had problems before the update mind you. Anyways, I heard it was to keep te belt tight and prevent the transmission problem. Trust me, I would have never done the update, but they said it was a preventive measure, so I reluctantly did it.

I vaguely remember it jumping to 3 at cold start. Never really bothered me.

Yes, when starting my rpms jump initially to around 3000 and it is somewhat noisy, but it quickly drop to around 1500 within 1 or 2 seconds, then within about 30 seconds it drops again to 1400. The car has always behaved this way so I'm positive this is normal for this vehicle.
