I just purchased a 95 Maxima SE 5spd and when I rolling on the expressway at 70MPH my tach reads 3 grand. Is that normal? I have a 89 Maxima SE Auto and drove 95 Max GLE Auto and at the same speed the tachs reads 2500-2600.

Something as simple as tire size can change rpms at a given speed between 2 identicle vehicles.

Thanks. The tires are P215 60 15's on the 95 SE. The 89 SE has the same size but the 95 GLE is P215 65 15's. Do you think that will net a 500 RPM difference?

The difference between your 89 and 95 are more likely due to different transmission gear ratios as the aspect ratio of the tires (215) is the same.

I would like to know the final ratios of the manual verse the auto trans because my highway mileage is down.

Thanks for the input
