I am running royal purple right now. There is no performance gain. The one thing I have noticed is that I now have oil leaks. I attribute that to the extremely small molecular structure of the synthetic base stock. The royal purple filter is really good though. Next oil change I am going back to a good high mileage synthetic blend. royal purple is probably more suited for a new engine and not for a high mileage one like mine.

Stick to Castrol, Mobile 1, or Amsoil.

I personally went from Castrol to Amsoil on my Maxima. Then sold that car and started off with Amsoil immediately after getting my M and now have been running Mobil 1 for the last few changes.

Check the 350z forums or do a search on Best engine oil for VQ35DE. A lot of the 350z guys did oil analysis and the general consensus is that Castrol Syntec (the one made in germany) produced the best results.

I've been using rp for the last 5+ oil changes and have gone as high as 8k miles without changing it. I am using their filter to do so and my blackstone lab results have been good. I was using mobil one when I first got my M but noticed oil consumption within 3k miles about a qt loss.

Same here... I've noticed I'm not losing 1 qt between oil changes

Hmmm ... which weight Royal Purple do you use? I assumoe 5W-30, but would like to confirm.

I have fed my car a steady diet of Mobile 1 Synthetic 0W-40 since about 10k miles and it has always used under 1/4 to 1/3 qt, sometimes 1/2 qt, by the middle of a change interval.

This last time, I tried Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W-30 and it went up to almost 2 qts in 3750 miles :ohno:, so got me worried.

I don't know if the weight change is related, of course, but I went back to 0W-40 to see if it goes back to "normal".

But, if the RP really avoids any oil use between changes, then I will definitely give it a shot!

I have used RP a lot in the past. I am currently running penzoil platinum. My car seems to be burning more oil, but I am not sure. It burned RP also, but only about 1 quart between changes. I may go back to it but some times it is hard to justify the price difference. You may not notice any performance gain unless your car is hooked up to a dyno.
