Well i had the stock oil until 3k miles then went royal purple, n had no problem until now n im @ 12k miles now, daily driver on the 3.5 6spd... i recommend buy the oil, like on ebay like the 12 bottles pack is cheaper, i tried but they dnt wanna ship to HI, n even the oil filter from K&N are cheaper... hope this help...

btw i use 5W-30...

If you're running a 2.5S, I'm gonna go ahead and tell you that I wouldn't spend the extra money on it. I ran Royal Purple for two oil changes in my Spec V when I had it, and the engine seemed louder to me overall than when I ran Mobil1. Although, my Jetta 1.8T that I had before it, I always ran Royal Purple bc it made a huge difference for some reason. Perhaps it was mainly because it was a much different engine setup being turbocharged.

If you're running a 3.5, I know there's a thread in the VQ35 engine forum where a tech did a very indepth study over the different motor oils they tried in the Z (I'd use it as a reference point). I seem to remember them dogging Royal Purple as far as engine wear and things like that versus other brands. I seem to remember them testing everything from Mobil1 to Valvoline to more "boutique" brands like Motul and Amsoil. I'll try and hunt for that thread and link back here if I get time.

Big question is - are you using synthetic now? My guess is you aren't only because my particular dealership has Nissan brand oil that they use EXCEPT when you prefer synthetic - they use Mobil1 for that.

My experience with synthetics is that I've found my car to have a point or two worse MPGs on average and a slightly rougher feeling motor (that roughness might just be in my head though) using Mobil1 than using Pennzoil Platinum synthetic. I will say that I haven't tried Royal Purple in my car yet (I'm running a 3.5 just in case you haven't figured that out yet), so I really can't recommend either way. I definitely don't recommend it for the QR though... just didn't seem very good in my Sentra when I tried it.

You can change your brand of oil every week if you want. Keep in mind, if you are running conventional oil and go to synthetic (especially full synthetic) You will be paying a lot more for oil changes, granted you may be able to go longer between changes.

I used royal purple in my supercharged MINI Cooper and my Mazdaspeed 6. Never had any issues and made both cars run smoother. I flip flopped between royal purple and amsoil on a regular bases with the MINI.

i use royal purple ever since one of my best friends been using it. used it on his tc, he used it on his si(all low 13 sec cars). best motor oil ive ever used. you feel the diff. but i use it for performance reasons. i have t a 3.5 6speed and ive ran the car up to 9-10k miles on royal purple so yes its a safe to use oil. i ran it that much just to test my limits so now i just do them every 5k miles

If you think that you have found the Holy Grail of motor oil in Royal Purple, based on their website claims, take the time to read this link:

Truth in Advertising, BP vs. RoyalPurple

Don't believe all of RP's 'performance' claims.
