I have been browsing various threads trying to see if anyone is running Royal purple fluids. I see Mobil 1 syn, mentioned much more than the purple stuff. I live in GA, where the summers are long and hot, i think i wanna use royal purple fluids in engine and transmission. Any thoughts on this anyone? Or should i stick w/ Mobil 1. What weight should i use...90' Q with less than 100k. Is 10/w30 too light? its avail w/ free shipping on ebay.

I've heard Redline and Royal Purple are the best there is. Mobil 1 is definately not something to kick out of the picture either. Royal Purple would probably do wonders for your Q; for weights and viscosities, ask PalmerWMD, he knows whats up.

aye, the Fred will probably recommend Mobil 1 as I think he may actually drink it...

to some extent, I think I'd let price factor in too, I don't really know what redline and royal purple run, but mobil is like what 3 bills a qaurt?

Mobil 1 is $30-35 with a 15-point inspection and vaccuuming at Wal-Mart. Cant beat that!

Then add a $10 Mobil 1 filter from Autozone.

It doesnt have to be MOBIL1 its simply the most convienint and reasonabley priced of the group4 and higher syns.

About RP they are very secretive about the nature of their base oil which makes me suspect its group 3 ( the lowest you can legally call "synthetic".

Mobil1 0w-40 in summer is a good fit with our vehicles. If ypou are willing to spend a tad extra AMSOIl 10w-40 and Redline 10w-40 are good choices too ( with the Redline being the strongest under the most extreme codntions but it costs a lot more and ina natuarlly aspirated engine like yours you likley wont see a difference with a Used oil analysis.

Do a Nico search for "oil*" for many good threads.

Fred..:)
