Greetings All,

Two issue here ...

I live in NY and while the roads here are quite rough, I have been experiencing more than normal suspension feel and the car seems to be hopping over bumps.

For example, if a front wheel hits a bump, it kind of hops to one side. Nothing drastic but definitely not normal. The same happens when the rear hits a bump.

Now i'm well aware this could be an alignment issue, but is there some way to determine if there's something up front I need to have looked at in order to determine if something is worn?

Secondly, I feel like the engine in my M is quite loud. Most noticeable at cruise speeds and at acceleration, it is far louder than my 6th Gen Maxima was and I need to know if anyone else experiences this.

The reason I ask here first is because I've been to many different dealership service departments and while I know they do what they can to ensure i'm getting the best service, my recent unresolved 'bluetooth echo' issue has me doing a lot of research before I take the car near there again.

You have the 3.5L V6 engine which is noteably loader than the 4.5L V8 engine. That's just something your going to have to live with.Didn't you notice this upon your test drive? Not to be rude, but that's what test drives are for? To distinquish your likes and dislikes?

Your issue with the the suspension needs more elaboration. Are you talking about going over speed bumps and such at slow speeds or going over bumps in highways at moderate to higher speeds? This will not be an alignment issue if these are complaints at slow speeds (under 20mph). If your more talking about "tramlining" issues where the car wants to suddenly surge to one side or the other, then it is more than likely a tire issue. If you have the Goodyear RS-A's on the car, you need to get rid of them and go with another tire that is well known to almost eliminate the tramlining issues. Also, get the alignment done as well. Most of the time a change to a better tire will drastically change the way a car handles and rides. From what I've been reading lately, the M's suspension seems to be a bit overloaded with unsprung weight. Meaning drastic bumps cause the suspension to unload at a more than needed drastic rate causing instability in handling under rough road conditions. That is just my theory on some of these issues. Not a whole lot you can do about that. Check your tires condition (check for feathering, cupping, uneven wear, worn inner or outer tread, and also report back the brand and series), check air pressure (set at 35-36psi COLD), and have the alignment performed. Your problem may just be a tire change and a slight alignment adjustment needed.good luck and let us know what the outcome is.

J
