Rough Start Up

i have a 89 fastback and pretty much most of the time when i start my engine i have to hold in the gas to get it started. i would have to try about two or three times to get it started! and the motor starts to shake violently. can anyone help here? thanks

Does it run once started? If so check timing etc.

Is this a new problem? Did it start all of a sudden? Was it there before and slowly or sudenly get worse?

Did your area just change to a winter fuel blend that your car dosen't like?

consider the above and let us know and we can go from there.
