Rough Start and idle

I have a 2001 I30t and when you first start it in the morning it is rough. It seems as if the car is not getting enough gas. The car idles high and then it goes low, sometimes it even cuts off and I have to restart it. So I started putting my foot on the gas, but it will only go about 2500-3000 rpms and it will die. So I just have to keep tapping the gas pedal until its warm and it idles and revs fine. Sometimes it does give me a popping noise when I use the gas pedal as if it is getting too much air. After several hours of sitting, I go through same process to leave work. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
