Hi. im new to these forums. I currently own a 01 pathfinder with 53k miles. I just got it a couple of weeks ago and am noticing that when i accelerate fairly slowly(keeping the rpms below 2k) i notice that the 1st gear to 2nd gear shift is pretty rough, and sometimes the 2nd to 3rd is as well. I was wondering if this is a common problem with these cars and if there is anyway to fix it?

yes i just got the car 3 weeks ago. when i test drove it i drove it harder then i do now that i own it, i didn't even notice the jerky 1-2 shift when i drove it like that.

what would i do to correct this?i dont suppose i can make the transmission re-learn by d/c the battery?

its differs from manufactuer to manufactuer ford might be able to learn by just driving the car longer with out reseting the computer . but nissan might not ....try driving the truck a little longer nice a smooth if that doesnt work i would bring it back and have them reset /reflash the computer so you can enjoy drving it. but mine still does it i got use to it

hey bud ive got your exact problem, but im a little hesitant to believe its learned from the driver --- Ive driven tons of cars and many nissans, and many pathfinders but ive never once experienced the shift problem as you have described (except in my own car)

i was doing some research about it and i read that sometimes this could be caused by the transmission shifter cable having too much slack, causing the transmission to shift a tad bit late. im not sure of how to adjust the cable and i would want to eliminate the easier possible causes first before i try going under the car and adjusting the cable
