I installed KYB gr2 struts on the front and rear with TEIN springs.Love the look but i'm not happy about the rough ride. The car feels like it's going to vibrate apart and me along with it ( yes im old, pushing 40 ).Anyone know of a little more forgiving combo. What about air ride,i have not heard of any one putting air suspension on a 240,and if so how was the ride?

I seriously doubt anyone on this board, or in America has air ride suspension on a 240.

I only know of 2 companies that possibly make air ride for 240: 1) Grenade Japan, but special order only, and will be $$$$ (you are looking at more than 5k) - can be special ordered through Aspec Products since they seem to be the only ones who import Grenade wheels. 2) Tanabe - don't think they make it for the S13 tho, but I remember they do have air ride suspension, or at least prototype ones for higher end cars... doubt they'll make it for 240 considering most 240 owners don't want to spend 3x the cost of the car for "just" suspension.

What TEIN's are you running? Considering they are GR2's... I'm guessing S-Tech springs? Those are WAY soft compared to what a lot of us run.

Your only chance is to change the springs to either the "Luxury Master"/H-Tech springs that are basically stock and will lower you about .5"-1" max only. Or Eibach Pro-Kit which should lower around 1". Or go back to stock if you think it's to rough.

The only other thing you can sort of do is perhaps upgrade to AGX where you have some control over damping, and changing to a rim/tire combo w/ larger sidewall & you can adjust/lower air pressure for a softer ride.

Other than that... the only way you are getting a softer ride is to buy an infiniti... :p

Seriously tho... TEIN springs... rough?

O, there's actually a thread that was active a lil while ago about a guy trying to build air-ride suspension... don't think that ever came to fruition.

I also figured a new way to make ur car feel soft... you can take a ride in my "track prepped" 240 w/ coilovers & a bunch of adjustable arms... then when you get back to ur vert, it will feel luxurious, hahaahhaha - I'm local too .

Lastly, have you thought of perhaps lowering using stock coupe springs?

Apparently, the vert stock springs have extra coils to offset the weight... so you may still get a nice lowering w/ stock coupe springs but maintain a pretty good factory spring rate... I got some stock coupe springs to trade .

I bet stock coupe springs would bottom out a lot if you tried that, due to the extra weight.

But anyway if your car is "vibrating" you may need an alignment more than new shocks or springs. If you are running s techs and you think its too stiff thats pretty bad cause they are about the softest thing available. I sold mine a long time ago for something far stiffer.

HEY guys thanks for the info. The car really does rides and handle great, was a little concerned about tearing up the car with the lack absorbtion, its not vibration but bumps and rattles

did you really think it was that big of a difference? cause most people that put s techs on say that its how they think the car should have come from the factory. They are really a pretty soft spring. I guess if you want it lower without a stiffer ride you could go with coilovers and then switch out the coils for some softer ones. that would be kinda hardcore.
