Do you get a throttle value when holding the throttle open?
I held the throttle open at 3 000 RPM and my reading was...

Throttle: 3.1%
MAF: 9.9 g/s

Is your throttle position sensor the type that needs to be calibrated?

just looking through the manual I see that it can be adjusted so maybe that needs to be done.

Not sure if I fully followed everything laid out in the book but I will have to look it over again to get a better understanding.

Thanks for all your help with this!

One thing i have noticed is the following...

When I first start the car, if I keep the engine at 2 000 rpms the vehicle wont stall and after 20-30 sec I can let it idle normally. If I try and idle the car on start up at 1 500 rpm the engine will surge and bounce around from 1 300-2 000 without me changing the pressure on the gas pedal.

Not sure if this points to anything just something I have noticed

Bouncing RPMs as seen in the video posted here?

topic601865.html

If so, my guess is the TPS (throttle position sensor) is bad. I saw the same bouncing when mine went bad. However, osageorange4 was getting P0300 (random misfire, which I didn't) as well, so maybe bump the thread and see if he was able to resolve his issue.

Also, my temp gauge was creeping up the afternoon that my TPS went bad when I was idling in traffic. Figured it might be worth mentioning since you were talking about how hot your engine compartment was. I haven't had any temp problems since I replaced it.

Thanks!

I remembered seeing that video somewhere but couldn't remember which topic it was in, that's the exact same problem I'm having
