I just recently got my s14 sr running in my 91 hatch and i'm having a few minor difficulties. At initial startup the motor revs to about 1.5 rpms and then settles down. Once it settles down the engine fluates between 500 and 900 rpm. Everything appears to be in order and when I drive it pulls are with no stuttering or anything. I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea of what might cause this. My friend came over to see my car and was making fun of it cause it was "idling rough as hell". Hopefully this is an easy fix and any help you smart individuals can give me is appreciated.

Coolant temp sensor, maybe or bad ground, or vacuum leak, timing, or improper sparkplug gap, mafs, .etc.

Let's rule out somethings shall we. CTS, does the idle fluctuate up and down fast... wiggle the plug while idling, any change, take noteMAFS, let car idle without it connected, does it idle or is it the same. Take note

Vacuum leak, a boostleak tester is always a good tool to have for turbo cars.

your pluge, should be gapped at .28 and should be NGK bkr7e iirc

IACV redtop91 posted, I would say yes if the idle was high or low not fluctuating, but if timing is off and it's reading the advanced map the backing off then reading andvanced again... it's timing related put car in timing mode and hit it with a timing light, set to 15 degs. idle 850 tps disconnected, above 950 enters advance IIRC don't quote me.
