Rough idle and start up - 90 240 stock

I've noticed in the morning or when I get off of work that the car is having a tremendous time trying to start. I turn the key 5 or 6 times before it starts and during those attempts there is no click or sound. When it does start, if I don't feed it gas right away it bogs, shutters and dies. As soon as I feed it gas for 5 sec it idles ok and runs normal. Any ideas on what could be doing this? I'll check the connections to the battery and check the spark plugs and wires....any other ideas?

Starter?Battery?and what about the shutter? fuel pump?

Stock 1990 240 XE (ijen intake) - 140xxx miles.

i had a similar problem. turned out to be a combination between bad ground wire and bad coolant temp sensor connections. make sure everything is nice and clean

I noticed the ground cable/fuse to my EDFC was covered in coolant ....relocated that and replaced the fuse. So far that has done the trick, but kind of strange.

those coolant temp sensors will just make a car run like ****. i dont know why but it will.

old,clogging fuel filter?

u can swing by autozone & get a free battery/alt/starter test on parking lot (it is in NJ anyways)

oops, doh! <slaps head> u might as well check for ECU codes too! u got a CA-emissioned car & there's a code for leaky fuel injectors
