I recently completed the timing chain rattle fix, as posted from the tutorials 240sx 91-98, and when i put my valve cover back on and started it up, it started fine but then really dropped revs and almost died and continued to idle very slow, like 400rpm. I was very carefull not to disturb the timing when the distributor was off and the chains were not disconnected at any time. One source told me it could be a vac. leak but Im not sure, i only remember disconnecting one hose, the one that goes into the valve cover, and i put it back.

any insight would be good,thanks

Don't see too many St. Louis guys around! I have had my distributor out several times and I would say it's more than likely that it's not back in the proper postion. Were your cam lobes on #1 facing away from on another?

i gues i'll tell, just because someone might find this in a search. i plugged the wires into the distributor in the wrong order. clockwise from 12:00 it should be 2,4,3,1 i had 2,3,4,1 .
