My truck now has 10,000 + miles on it and I love it. But the idle seems like it has a miss or a stumble at idle speeds. The tach never varies but you can feel it . Gets 22 MPG on the road, and runs great otherwise. Seems to be a little worse when the A/C is running. Don't want to take it to a dealer.. Any ideas.. I am a 50 + year auto mechanic, so I know how things work.. Thanx, Jerry ...

how?

*mine has it too... if its more like a vibration almost during idle? i wasn't worried about it. i figured the truck is new so its probably "within spec"

Tried cleaning the mass airflow sensor? This can be done with a careful touch, a qtip, and some rubbing alcohol. Make sure it's dry before reinstalling. Plugs and wires would be my next recommendation if that doesn't help, but with only 10k miles, I wouldn't think you'd need that yet.

It's true, I am getting that kind of mileage. I do use premium fuel from good well known gas stations. I have 2 WD which also makes a difference. I do drive at high speeds around 75-80 when I can. But even town driving here in Las Vegas it gets 19 + MPG. I do keep fuel injection cleaner in my gas almost all the time. The product from Chevron is really the only one that should be used. Costco carries it in a 4 bottle box at about $10.00. I looked at Tacomas before buying the Frontier. I had a 1999 Tacoma and was happy with it, but the added extras that comes with the Frontier sold me. 4 Wheel disc brakes, locking tail gate. plus many more.. Anyway the engine has the shakes, and I will look at the mass sensor and see if it has crud on it.. Thanx for your help.. Jerry..

doesn't sound like too bad of a problem to me if its running so well otherwise. think its just the heat? i hear its been HOT in vegas.

have you read the codes to see if anything is coming up? in the first gens the knock sensor can go reguarly. do try cleaning the MAF and make sure the air filter is good.

I have a 2007 Frontier Crew Cab SE 6speed with an idle issue as well. It is surely worse with the AC on. I think it can be solved by raising the idle from the spec 625 to at least 700. Does anyone know if you can raise the idle without a computer on these things? Going to the dealer is out of the question for me. They do more damage than good usually. I do ALL my own service. Thanks.
