I have this Rogue SL AWD for a month almost, and sometimes i canot open the door by pressing the black rubber button on door, or if enter car sit in seat and try to turn the ignition on, and i get the no key light flashing, and i have to press open on my key remote -fab which dangles on my side of belt with other keys, i went back to dealer, service an the guy said just move away or move the fab a little and it works, that its a lot of sensors in car and they get confused, Well I dont buy this explanation , Am i right ?, the car i bought used w/ 1800 miles, is on road since Jan 09 ,then the dealer had it for 3 months, anyway is just very annoying when you cannot turn the key to start the car , i tried the second fab same think so the battery is not an issue, i think its the main sensor board . Also when i driving away form stop the floor board under my feet tickles my bottom of feet ,something is touching for like 1-20 second then is ok. Otherwise i like the car took it for a short few days on highway rides comfortably very well, got pretty got 24-27 mpg depend how fast i drove, als oi used A/C a lot.

I have the same model as you and sometime it append to me also, but only for unlock the door. I know that you need to be closed from the car and between a circle (see the manual to see where it works).

I don't have my manual close from me, but if you keep your key in your left pocket, try using your right. Sound weird, but you loose nothing.

Happens to me sometimes to, but it's not a regular occurrence. When it happens to me with the buttons on the door, I just chalk it up to my pocket being just out of range of the sensor. The Rogue sensors have a very limited range for security purposes...I'm rather glad they're not like the intellikeys on the Dodge Challengers where it's more like a 15 foot range.

Yes I am inclined to agree with you. (at least as far as my key fobs work). My Intelligent key works every time. I have never had to press a button more than once or move the fob around to get it to work. As long as my key fobs are within 2 1/2 feet (60-80cm) the doors lock/unlock and the ignition works every time. I have never received the No Key warning light.

My Rogue, on the road since Feb 09 has 2100 miles on it. While the problem you describe could very well be the main sensor / controller board ... in my opinion, I would think it would be the least likely to fail considering all the components in the Intelligent Key circuit (which includes the key fobs). Also, convincing the dealer to replace the main controller could be a lengthy battle. Before going that route I would suggest you eliminate as many variables as possible.

The most sensitive component in this entire Intelligent Key network is the key fob itself. It is a miniature transmitter and as such should never get wet or be dropped. My first suggestion was going to be that you should try replacing the key fob battery. However, since you said the other key fob responds in the very same way, like you said, it should be safe to eliminate the battery as the problem. Second... as mentioned earlier, the key fob is a miniature transmitter and as a result is sensitive. They should also be protected from extreme heat and can be sensitive to interference from things like magnets you may have on your key ring! For instance, something as innocent as placing your keys on top of the television every night when you walk in the door could effect the key fob circuit due to the electro magnetic fields produced by the TV. Anyway... be aware of these cautions as outlined in the owners manual.

Elton,

This procedure is only for the regular keyless entry fobs. It cannot be used for the Intellikey system.

The Intellikey system can only be programmed by the dealer using the Consult III diagnostic tool.

Do you have your cell phone in the same pocket?

Could be an interference problem with another emitter (cell phone, etc...).

Philipa_240sx, thanks for the heads up. I edited my post (removing the programming steps) as to not confuse anyone. Just FYI... I got the procedure from a guy on eBay selling Intelligent Key Fobs. He said I could either take the fob to a dealer or follow the step by step instructions and program it myself. Since he represented himself as an approved distributor of Nissan parts I figured his information was good. My bad.

I am having the exact same problem with locking/ unlocking, but not with the ignition.

I do believe it is cell phone related. Back when I purchased my Infiniti G35 we were told NOT to place our Motorola RAZR phones in the same pocket as the remote fob, the phone would interfere with the fob and render it inoperable. After about 6 months Infiniti released a TSB saying they would be upgrading the fobs and to bring the car and both fobs in to have them replaced and reprogrammed. This was all done gratis by Infiniti.

I now have the Rogue and I have an Apple iPhone. I wear the phone on a belt clip just above my left pant pocket (ironically where I ALWAYS carry my car keys = 20+ years). When I approach my Rogue and press the IK button nothing happens, but if I turn that pocket next to the door (Intelligent Key Dance) or hold my hand over the phone I have NO issues with it responding and opening/ locking the door. I have also tried leaving the phone in the house and just having the fob in my pocket and it works without issue.

This is a true annoyance just to have the lock/unlock not functioning properly, I can imagine how aggrevating it must be for the ignition to be nonfunctional. This is an issue Nissan needs to address. I have NEVER had any issues with my G35 intelligent key functions either with the RAZR or my iPhone, so I know there is a work around.

Good Luck and I'll def be bringing this to the service writer's attention on my first d-ship visit and question why the Infiniti is not affected but the Rogue is.

Ray
