I think those are the low price psuedo rotors we can by for $27 each delivered. As I keep pointing out rotors vary from $108 down to $27 [our shop cost].

Factory from Nissan, Powerstops, Stillens, or Brembo........unless you know what you are looking at and can weigh them before you pay. Also the shipping can be a problem what if they arrive warped do you have the tools to check them?

Don't have the tools to check.....better off getting them from Joe in Scottsdale...or is warping an issue with many brands?

I'd go with the Stillen cross drilled from Joe. The set I bought are about the same price as OEM and I was able to index them to below factory spec. so they were fairly flat...

This may be heresy, but I bought my front and back rotors from NAPA for around $50 each. They were supposedly 'import', but when I picked them up from the store they were made in either USA or Canada. They took care of the steering wheel shudder I was experiencing. Same weight as the stock, but didn't have the 2 holes that help free the rotor when changing. If you are replacing the brakes pads at the same time it will take a week or so to break them in.

"take a week or so to break them in" Obviously you are not following the pad and rotor bedding proceedure" to condition the rotors with a smooth even pad material transfer. Slow break in causes uneven transfer.

Fixing a steering shimmy problem is easy, fixing it for the maximal period [time between warps] is the hard part some get 6,000 miles some get 12,000 miles...........lots of different between PERFECT, a barely perceptable quiver, a serious quiver, and a 1/4 inch movement of steering wheel at speed.

Not clear to me why I obviously did not follow the pad and rotor bedding procedure, so maybe you could be more explicit about the procedure. Ideally one would not have to replace both the pads and rotors at the same time. But given that both have to be replaced, it has been my experience that after following the pad and rotor bedding procedure it still takes a week or so of driving before full stopping power returns.

Rotors from a reputable chain store provide a good middle of the road alternative for someone trying to keep costs under control and I have had good luck with them.

As to the steering shimmy, I will keep you posted as it has only been a few thousand miles since I replaced the rotors.

I continue to be very satisfied with my decision to get cross-drilled, slotted Bradi rotors from Irotors.com at $219 for the four of them. Installation was done by Frontier Infiniti in San Jose. Since I did not get plated rotors, they now have a "pre-rust" golden sheen on the non-braking surfaces. Not an issue for the braking surface - that still looks just fine. :D

I now have about 3k miles on them, with OEM Infiniti pads, on my 95 Q45 and they are working well. Smooth stops without any concerns; no vibration, etc. Even hard stops are well controlled. I had a recent unexpected opportunity to exercise the ABS hard (lady in front of me did not make it - she slid into the guard-rail on Highway 85 in San Jose, swerving to avoid an SUV that stopped suddenly in the middle lane during rush-hour traffic).

Note that a few folks here have some business concerns about dealing with Irotors.com (shipment delays being one I recall), but these rotors are working out well for me!

When you say oem front pads which version? the U91 or the U93 or the rare and hard to find [1990-1993] U90 [fast wearing, dusty- but superior].

Since the dealer replaced the front pads on my '94, does that mean they used a superior, but faster wearing pad?

They used the pad they used, check your bill should have part numbers. All that are available are the 91 or 93 [unless you bought many sets and saved them years ago].

Doesn't everyboody have a personal inventory of premium parts? The older Japanese oil filter, the older Japanese air filter, the older Japanese fuel filter. That have been superceeded by domestic made parts of lower quality.......the engines were lasting too long something had to be done...........just kidding or am I?

I have a stockpile of oil filters and air filters.... No brake pads, sadly.

Maybe I'll start a nationwide search for the last set of 90's.

I have several 60U00 Oil filters, but I wasn't aware of changes in the air and fuel filters. Hopefully by the time I go through the stack of 60U00 oil filters someone will have a better filter out there - or maybe a good price on Mobil 1 filters?
