I did a search on Q45 Brakes & came up with an old post from Q45Tech on the 90-96 300ZX rotors & 90-96 Q45 rotors being the same diameter, same weight, but with the Z being 2mm thicker than the Q.

Most of the other posts were S13 & S14 related.

I have a set of Brembo F50 calipers without adapter brackets or rotors. The only rotors I can find is from the Schtealin' kit & they want an arm & a leg for their "kit" minus calipers.

Question is:

Would a Brembo adapter bracket & rotor for a 300ZX brake upgrade have the right offset for the Q? (Hat depth on the rotor and caliper positioning)

If the 300ZX rotors & calipers are interchangable on the Q, then logic would say yes, but I don't know if they swap. Someone told me last night about a (recent?) SCC article regarding this. (S13/S14/Z32/G50)

Race Technologies (Brembo Master WD) has no info on the 90-96 Q & can't assist me. Stillen wouldn't tell me even if they knew.

I would rather have Brembo 2 piece rotors (if I'm going to do this) than the BrakePros rotors from Stillen (they claim are Brembo rotors & Stillen hats, but are apparently not).

TIA Jason

300ZX brake mounting and Q mounting are the same.

YES!

Thank you very much 911/Q45, I was really wanting to read that after a gruelling 240 highway mile stop & go trip today. My brakes leave a lot to be desired, stock, albeit new, but underwhelming.

The G35 gets by with a single piston 11.6" x 24 mm front system...[Q45 is 11.6" x 28mm] .....the pads are what counts in daily driving .......soft dusty pads are great............the kind that wear out in 15-18,000 miles..........make tremendous brakes.

The soft gooey summer tires that last the same.

Owners create their own brake problems mostly by switching from oem tires and pads..........trying to lower cost of operation.

Yeah, lol, it took an air chisel to remove the brake dust from my BBS wheels when I bought it, thankfully he had them rotated instead of cleaning them, :rolleyes so it took blasting caps to clean the rears.

I always use stock pads for a street car.

So I have these calipers & just want to order a Brembo GT 300ZX kit minus calipers.......

Couldn't get in touch with Jim Hodgeman @ Brembo (HP Director)today, so I called Race Technologies & she gave me a blow-by-blow (no pun intended) of the differences between the 300ZX GT system & the Q45.

If they work, they work.

Has anyone else not done this already?

Her comment was:

"Brembo is very good at cross referencing applications, even if they're not that popular, to offer kits to an owner of any car that takes the same kit. If you order these pieces (90-96 300ZX) you're going to have to do a lot of fabrication & you're on your own."

(Even their per-app kits require a little work sometimes, from a Civic to a Cobra to an A4, that's what scares me.)

Still looking at $1200, even though I have the calipers. :(

:help

I say, spend the $1,200.00 on adapting a Dodge Viper's or Stealth's rotors/calipers, to the Q's spindles.

I have not done it, but I have heard about a larger rotor, from a Dodge being fit to the 300ZX's spindles. I think the rotors on the Dodge is 12".

I can see where take-offs from a Viper would make economic sense if one had nothing to begin with, but the 300ZX kit from Brembo is a 13" rotor.

No offense, 911/Q45, but are the rest of you guys also sure what fits the 90-96 300ZX fits the 90-96 Q?

I hate not knowing as much about this car as I did others that I've owned, but I didn't learn about them overnight, either.
