i've heard/seen horror storries and the first pics that come up on google image search are broken wheels. i just wanted to know if rota ever rectified whatever mistakes they made and whether or not they're safe to buy now...

Yes Rota wheels crack and break...when you hit a curb going 90mph, just like most wheels.

I am getting some P45Rs, eventually. Some people just like brand name wheels that cost 5x as much and they can afford tto be that baller.

To put things into perspective, here's a post I made from this thread: zer...age=1

In the case of Rota, I've compared their weight to that of the original wheels and found the increased weight nothing to cry about. Were talking 1 or 2 lbs here. And on their strength, here's something to consider:

Cliff's notes: -Rota sells alot more wheels than most other companies. So you may hear of a failure more frequently because there are more of them on the road. But in reality, high priced wheels fail wheel from time to time too.

-Wheel failure is pretty rare actually, but Rota customer service seems to be topnotch, taking care of any issues it hears about fairly quickly and satisfactorily.

Here's another. Over 100 pages of Rota loving Subaru picture thread:http://forums.nasioc.com/forum...ge=98

they're more than 500 cheaper than volk

a new set of te37 cost around 3 grand

a new set of rota grid's will cost about 900

yes its still kind of expensive but damn.

The most expensive Rota wheel I've ever seen was $265. But that was for a 18x10 wheel, which isn't a common size for Rota. Plus, that style was new at the time. I think the 18x10 normally go for around $250.

Rota's smaller sizes are pretty cheap, I mean sizes like 17x9 ranging from ~$110 to $180 or so.

o great to point that out but still, i was just saying for any rim, sure get a set of 3k rims if you want, but this isn`t lamboforums.com, its nico for nissans lol etc, when your driving a 3k 240sx or a 6k 300zx, who really wants to pay same for the rims as for the car or half, but if you have the money, JUST DO IT lolbut about 75% of 240sx owners ect, much rather go the cheaper route.yum but like i saidif you have another stack of cash to get that org band and a few pounds less a wheel, go for it. i would if i was ballin

well, i got my wheels toady so i got them on, WOW they stick out, these are rota grids 18x9.5 with 15 offest all around,i have 275 35 18 for the back(fit good) and 255 35 18 front(rub only when i hit a pretty good sized bump going decently fast)have tein lowering springs 1.5 back 1.8 front. i need to lower it more in the front and do a super roll to the fenders lol

Before when i was rockin these for the time being cause i sold the sportmax

After

and they actually weigh less then the sport maxs with 9.5 back and 7.5 front. car with sportmax was 2900 and now these weigh 2880

ill get some more pics later when the suns out lol

Awww man! Why'd you get that color?! That bronze looks terrible with that blue...

But still, great sizes though! Should have gotten this color...

Are your Z brakes on in these pics? Drop it more, camber and pull and you'll have some sexiness on your hands!

i would have got that color if it was in my lug, but ya, ill end up rolling them out pretty far and getting the right stance to the car then primer it black and either go red black for forest green

Simmode1 makes a good point. This deal with rota's supposedly "failing" almost seems like a good example of Simpson's Paradox if im not mistaken.

Anyhow, I think spending 2-3 grand on just a set of wheels is just crazy.

Do the forest green rather than the black. That 'black s13 hatch with TE37's' look is done to death. They're all over the Best looking s13 ever thread...

But if I were you, I'd just paint the wheels Hyper Black & get some blue lug nuts like that Suby has. Keep you car's OEM color. Its rare to see that color on a good looking s13 and its less work than repainting your whole car. Just my opinion, though...

I read this and thought to myself: Homer Simpson?

But then I googled it and went... "Ooooooh. Yes, I agree."

That would be nice, but alas... No.

But come on! This is Rota where talking about here! Seems like anybody can just call them up ask for a certain size and they'll do it.

I remember when the P45R's first came out and Bushido was running 18x9.5+15 all around, but he got Rota to make him some 17x9.5+15's for his fronts. And to the best of my knowledge, he didn't have to start up some crazy groupbuy to do it. He did, however, have to wait 6 months for his then-custom sized wheels. Now I think that size is available if you contact Rota directly.

From me just watching the increase in available sizes that they offer, seems like Rota really want to accommodate the fitment needs of enthusiasts. I'd been planning to call them myself to get them to make the 18x10 Grids in a +20 offset. They'd sell like hotcakes, IMO.

We'll be putting some Rota RB's on the S30...

Thinking about a set for the Cube as well - I love the look of them!

They are pretty sexy. The first time I saw the RB's was on the ROTM S30. They were georgeous.

Now, doesn't your S30 have an RB25? If so, I'm guessing you're gonna pick... 17x9-13 & 17x9.5-19 with ZG flares?

Is there any sexier setup?

Do yourself a favor and stop thinking like this. Coil sleeves are a terrible idea. They won't go as low as you want and the ride quality will be really bad. Plus, most of them are cheap-a** deathtraps.

You don't have to be a serious competitor to use coilovers. It doesn't make you a poser if your car has coilovers but doesn't see tracktime. It is for guys like you (and me) that companies create coilovers with street applications.

If you want this kind of fitment (and who doesn't?!), you're gonna need coilovers: 18x9.5+15 with 225/40/18 all around.

I like your tire sizes better though...
