Hello fellow NICOs. I've got a 2000 I30. I try to do the majority of my maintenance on my own. I'm a real DIY kinda guy! Just me, my very limited tools, my 99'-00' Maxima Chilton Manual, and my one car garage.

I'm assuming I'll spend most of my time in the Maxima forums as opposed to the Infiniti forums? I'm pretty sure I've got the same car as the 2000 Maxima. Would I be a 4th Gen or a 5th Gen Maxima? Is there a way to tell from my VIN?

Welcome! And you are correct: the I is essentially a Maxima. A 5th gen Maxima in the case of your 2000. The only real differences are cosmetic.
