hello to all

i am finally about to rid myself of the factory radio in my altima and upgrade to an alpine flip out touchscreen. might as well since i will keep this car for awhile 25.4 mpg

since i have never messed with anything like this before i tend to avoid car electronics unlike mechanical

is there any guide on the forum for dummies to help in achieving this monumental task lol

or does anyone know of any other source of info preferably visual with clear info

thanks any responses will be appreciated

Honestly, I'm relly not trying to be a jerk... and I love helping people out... but you gotta meet me half way!!!

go to the Altima Coupe Forums, on the FRONT PAGE at the top, there's a sticky that says...**Table of Contents - READ FIRST! - How To's & FAQ's**

Click on that, and you will find the link to my tutorial on how to install an Avic D3 navigation system...

The thread can be applied to almost any aftermarket system in the Altima coupe, and it shows with pictures how to remove the factory stereo! It also shows which wire you need to tap into for

1. auto dimming feature2. reverse camera function3. watching videos while in motion

If, after reading through all of that, you still need assistance, either myself or Applebonker will be mor than happy to assist you!

True. The walk-through Doc has provided for everyone has plenty of pics of exactly where everything is that you will need to remove the stereo.

I'll even be nice enough to link it for you!

Also, is there a reason you want a flip-out screen? I previously owned the Alpine IVA-D105 (flip-out touch screen) but I now have the IVA-W205 (the newest model is the IVA-W505). Both are great units, and I would highly recommend going with the double DIN. The Altima has the space, unless you really want that tiny pocket below the radio for some reason. Check out Doc's threads (he's obviously the one who has responded to you so far) to check out his head unit. It is also an excellent unit. Many questions are answered throughout these threads, so search and you may find it. If not, then feel free to ask away and we'll do what we can to help.

trust me i'm cool with ur replies

i just found that avic thread last nite so i will use it as much as possible

looks like its for an 07-08 though but i will work with it just the same

@abonker: i got the flip out on a good deal since its an older alpine but it is still highly rated

flip outs allow you to remove the faceplate giving crackheads a second to re-think relieving me of my stereo thats why i like them

thanx again guys about to do some damage today will let u know how it turns out

Yeah, I didn't notice the '06 in your profile. I've seen some pics of an install how-to for your gen. Let me see if I can find those and add them to the FAQ that I recently created.

Which HU are you going to be running? The removable face was the one thing I liked about my flip out that I don't have now. It's still risky about getting things jacked, so talk to your insurance about what you'd need to do to get it covered. I've liked my Alpines, so if you have any questions on it, let me know. I'll probably be able to help with most things Alpine.
