Just got an S model Rogue and I'm happy with everything but I need Roof Rail Cross Bars which do not come factory installed (stupid)

If I bought them aftermarket will the S model support the crossbars? Or am I beat?

Thanks.

The S model did not come with roof rails (running front to back), let alone the crossbars (which cross-ways from the driver to pass. side).

I replied to similar posts a few months ago...

Roof rails cannot be easily added to S models. The parts alone are about $800. The bolts that attach the roof rail are fastened from the inside. This requires removal of the headliner to get at the bolts. There may be some drilling involved as well.

If you have an SL with roof rails, the crossbars are very easily installed. You could install them yourself in less than an hour.

$800.00???

So then I take it there are more parts then just the Roof rails? The roof rails are like 180.00. Wouldn't those come with the hardware to install them? I really need the roof rails at least. Could you point me in a direction to where I could get more information?

Check the sponsors on the right side. If you don't find what you like pricewise, there is still ebay.

The color of the crossbars are silver, the same color as the roof rails.

The roof rails and crossbars only come in one color: silver

180$ ???

The MSRP for ONE roof rails is 355.08$, so the total with all the hardware will be close to 800$. You may find with our sponsors a sale price of about 600-650$ + shipping, but then you will have to add the labor, and it is not a 30 minutes job.

Did you ask your dealer for the possibility to add them?

The crossbars a Nissan accessory. They are about $180.

The crossbars mount to the OEM roof rails. On an S model (that does not have the roof rails) you need roof rails AND crossbars. You are looking at closer to $1000 + installation costs to do the complete system.

This is not something you want to try and install yourself. The headliner inside the vehicle has to come out to install the mounting bolts. There are also side curtain airbags inside the headliner so it can be a tricky and dangerous process if you don't know what you are doing.

There is another option. If you only require a roof rack to carry occasional loads (ie cargo bag, skiis, etc), you can purchase a complete Yakima roof rack system for much less. The rack installs in minutes and removes just as quickly when you don't need to carry anything. One of our members with an S model Rogue is using one and it works very well:

zerothread/343315

Read the thread very carefully, there are specific part numbers for the Q clips needed to install the rack. Yakima does not have Q clips specifically for the Rogue, but a couple of us have tested a few different clips and found something that works.

Yakima Racks are sold throughout Canada and the US. Here is thier website:

I also have a Rogue S and I called Yakima to verify if they have Q clips that would work with Q towers and the Rogue. Of course they did not and explained that they have not tested any clips that would work with the Rogue.

The Customer Service Rep did suggest the possible route of going to a permanent install. I'm a little unsure about that idea. I'm also unsure of putting around 100 lbs of my stuff either in my Rocket Box or more than 3 bikes with clips that may work or may deform the roof of my Rogue.

I've got a bunch of Yakima bike trays and components and it would be a shame if I had to sell them becuase I couldn't fit them on to my Rogue.

By the way, the permanent Yakima solution is the install of their product called Tracks and then use of control towers and landing pads allowing use of their crossbars and accessories. Might wait until they test clips on the Rogue or might get impatient and go with the Tracks/Control tower/Landing pad professional install. Also, the Customer Service Rep did note the subject matter of the call and did verify that if enough calls were logged on the subject then it would encourage them to test the Rogue for use of correct Q clips. So anyone else out there with a Rogue S and no factory roof rack please call Yakima and let them know we want them to test their Q tower rack on the Rogue. Yakima's phone number is 888-925-4621 from 7am-5pm Pacific Time M-F.

good recon man. I am going to call.

Still can't understand why those simple little roof rails would cost so much to install? I guess maybe I don't understand the mechanics behind it.

All I want to do it put my damn snowboard up there lol... and they look sweet to boot.

Did you read philipa_240sx's reply? It's not simple, that's why.
