Roof Racks, or No Roof Racks?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I originally wanted my car to come without the racks and crossbars, as it looked more sport-wagoney without them. But now it's growing on me.

What do you guys think? Do our cars look better with or without roof racks?

Roof Rack = Crossover SUV 4X4

No Roof Rack = Sporty G35 wagon on heels.

I don`t think you can add roof rack if your car didn`t come with it

originally.

If you are into more sporty or performance side, then I think no roof rack is

the answer. I remember one time I parked next to a Mustang Cobra w/

stripes in a parking lot oF SAMSCLUB and a 50+ year old guy asked me

how many horses my EX35 has. I told him close to 300HP and this is

actually an AWD CROSSoVER - not a sports performance car like he has.

I was still seating inside the car when he approached me and I was with

my wife and 6 yr old son. I don`t know if he would approach me the same

way if my EX35 has ROOF RACK

I prefer without the roof racks. I think the roof racks mess up the nice shape of the car and are kinda funny looking. (I also think the new FX's gills are funny looking.)

WHY WOULD YOU WANNA ADD MORE WEIGHT TO YOUR CAR ??

AFTERMATH :

1- MORE FUEL CONSUMPTION

2- LESS POWER

3- DESTROY THE AERODYNAMICS SHAPE OF THE CAR

4- IT LOOKS UGLY ANY WAY AND PEOPLE WILL MISTAKE YOU FOR AN FX

after all its your call and your car you know what i say buy what you really want never mind people

I have an EX AWD with roof rack. I put Thule cross bars and a box on the roof. I had it on all winter for my skis and took it off in the summer to try to get better performance.

To tell you the truth, I don't see any difference in performance or gas milage with the rack on or off, which surprised me.

With a roof rack and performance winter tires, I still got my EX driving really fast. However it always seems to take lots of gas, roof rack, winter tires or not.

The Aluminum Trim must really weigh a lot... so much that it affects Gas Economy (???)

I for one, like the Aluminum Trim on top.

Each his own, I guess.

At the time we bought it, we didn't know it was an option to order it with OR without.

We didn't want the roof rack when we bought the car, but it came that way. We complained to the dealer and they took off the cost. Now we find that the roof rack has an unexpected value -- it is much easier to find the car in a parking lot.

I personally love the shiny aluminum accent of the roof rails for my black EX35; goes well with the shiny wheels, door sill bottom, and windows. The crossbars, on the other hand, unfortunately take a bit of the aesthetics away, but I need them to mount snowboards.

I think the roof racks add a "cool" factor to the vehicle without hurting performance one bit. But either way, it's still a great looking vehicle!
