First post on here, so thanks in advance for your patience with me. I've had my pathfinder for about 7 months now. It is a 2003 4x4 SE with the big bulky factory roof rack that used to have the big pathfinder word written out on both sides. Question is, I'm looking for a base rack - either a THULE or Yakima - that will attach to the factory siderails. The crossbars are so damn wide I can't find any other option. I can't figure out by using their online fitment tools if the different base rack systems will actually fit my specific roof rack. Does anyone have any of these systems? Or does anyone any other roof racks that have worked with their factory racks? I really want to get a cargo basket and simple bike rack on either side of it for going up to the mountains.

Thanks

The Yakima Load warrior cargo basket will work perfectly with your current rack and crossbars (without needing to purchase additional hardware). Also, you can purchase a Yakima roof bike rack and also purchase the mighty mounts which are made for the wider curved crossbars (such as those on your factory roof rack).

Also, welcome to NICO!

One last note: If you were to purchase a Load Warrior cargo basket as well as the bike rack, you would need to mount the bike rack onto the cargo basket as the basket is slightly wider than the crossbars, leaving no room on either side. This would prevent you from having to purchase the special mighty mounts for the wider curved bars (standard round mighty mounts are included with the roof bike rack, which is exactly what you would need to attach the bike rack to the cargo basket).

Thanks a lot for the info. Will I need to purchase a longer bolt kit specific to my application or does the standard mounting bracket actually fit as supplied? Also, would I not just attach the bike rack to the bars on the basket that would normally attach to a standard, round load bar?

That is a very sick pathfinder sir. Problem is that I have the big googly pathfinder rack. (Not to get off topic but what's your wheel/tire setup there. That is exactly what I'm looking for. 2"AC Lift as well?

For the Load Warrior basket, you don't need any special hardware or anything of the sort. The basket comes with all necessary hardware and will attach beautifully to the huge crossbars of the factory roof rack (the crossbar mounts that come with the rack are made for the wider curved bars, such as the ones on your vehicle).

Yes, this is correct. You would attach the bicycle rack to the bars of the basket. The bike racks come with mighty mounts which are made for round load bars, which is perfect for the basket. If you were to purchase/use the bicycle rack without the cargo basket, then you would specifically need to purchase different mighty mounts which are made for the wider crossbars.

Quick question again (thanks for the patience) : I found a good deal on a loadwarrior on ebay but the mounts are 4 locking mounts. Do those fit my huge crossbars too? Thanks.

Yeah, the locks work with the hardware that comes with the basket, so it will work for your vehicle. Post the link to the eBay page just to be sure. Here's a pic of the locks which will work with the included hardware and your car...

I've also got a Surco Safari Basket and really dig it. The Surco mounting system is very different from the Yakima, it mounts into the channels those big-a** cross bars slide into. They have vehicle specific hardware for mounting which I had to grind down to get it to fit in the channel. Did you have to do this Fish?

I went ahead and got it, turned out to be a pretty decent deal

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...NX:IT

comes with cargo net and installed axe/shovel mount and 4 locking mounts. I picked up an extension over at geartrade.com for 71 bucks shipped. Thanks for the help guys - I'll put some pics up once it's on.

Ok, so from the images on the auction page and their description, it looks like they aren't including the SKS Lock Cores with the locking mounts (you may want to ask the seller if they are including the cores). If they aren't included, then you will need to purchase a set of four lock cores to go in the locking mounts. A set of four SKS cores is Yakima Part #: 7204. Here's a pic of the lock cores...

That is a great price for all that stuff!!
