Im feeling generous this morning so i am going to copy paste a part of my build thread from over on NPORA to show ya.
Okay so here is a little update to show how I went about wiring my roof lights. The lights are wired so that the two inner lights come on with one switch and the two outers come on with a different switch. Basically the wires from the lights go into an all weather connector and the wires from that I ran down my a pillar in the weather stripping sealed in with silicone. They then run into the engine bay across the back of the bay, to the other side. From there they have an inline fuse, which then leads into the relays and then from there to the battery and then the power and ground wires run back along the passenger side of the bay inbetween the fender and hood joint, and into the cab right by the door. From there they run behind the glove box and into right where the gear shift is. Here are some pics to help aid as I know its very confusing if you just read it. I know the wiring looks like crap but I did not have a heat gun at the time for shrink tubing soooo electrical tape did the trick.
Pic of the weather proof connector pack
You can see the connector at the top of the roof, which then leads the wires in a protective sleeve down to the weather stripping where they run to the engine bay
From there the wires run in a space between the door jam and the fender for the engine bay
From there the wires run along the rear of the engine bay to the in line fuses and the relays....didnt take pics cause that is pretty self explanitory but if anyone wants them I dont mind taking some.
These are the wires running from the battery and relays back up the passenger side of the engine bay and up through the same gap leading into the cab
Where the wires come right in the door jam...I just wrapped them with electrical tape and it looks pretty clean. Only one person has noticed the wire and said anything about it and she is pretty OCD about stuff
From there the wires run into a small plastic panel and everything is hidden behind the dash
Just take out the glove box and side panel that lead to the center console and the gear shift cover should just be pryed up with a flat blade screwdriver
From there the wires are connected to two switches that I got at autozone for like 6 bucks, they have a little LED in each so you know when they are on. I have had several people mistake them for stock switches cause they match the interior plastic so well
When they are on the color of the led is a weird like orange but it gets the job done
Hope this helps to clarify some stuff. Sure this is not the best way to wire lights ideally you would run them through the firewall but I did not have the time or could not find a place to do it, plus i didnt have enough wire. We also set these up in a parking lot with just some pliers a socket set and some wire strippers :itsallgood:
EDIT: Screw the forums stupid limit on the number of pics you can post in one post
