Roof Rack Corrosion?
Roof Rack Corrosion?
Has anyone else noticed a weird corrosion on the roof rack of the '08 QX56? We're about to trade an '04 in for a new QX but every vehicle on the lot has messed up roof racks.

Wow, I don't know what to say about the corrosion, I have not seen that, where on the roof rack are you seeing the corrosion? I traded my '04 QX56 in on an '08 Armada. I can check my Armada roof rack for the same issue. I know I never had a problem with my '04 QX56 roof rack. I will surely check my roof rack now.

It is on the underside of the roof rack running down both sides of the vehicle. I'm not sure if it was the switch to a chrome roof rack that has caused this problem but it is quite noticeable. The dealer is looking at having the roof rack replaced on the vehicle we like but I'm worried that in 6-8 months the problem could rear its ugly head again.Timmbo wrote:

No corrosion on the roof rack of my '08 Armada. The rack appears to be made of a coated aluminum, looks brand new.mdbray wrote:

Yeah I think the QX56 changed to chrome and maybe Infiniti didn't quite test the materials in Florida environments... We looked at the roof rack on the FXs and they all appeared to be brushed (or maybe your coated) aluminum. In this case maybe Infiniti should have stuck with the same materials as Nissan...Timmbo wrote:
