Roof mounted dvd player screen not turning on?

I just got a second hand 2005 Maxima Ti-L

When I bought it it had two faults:
1) The rear left door wouldn't unlock/lock remotely

This was fixed under warranty by Nissan because they have recalled the 05 Maxima for faulty door lock actuators. They replaced all 4 actuators yesterday free of charge.



2) The car is fitted with a genuine Nissan roof mounted rear seat entertainment system.

The DVD player appears to power on, but nothing ever appears on the screen. The screen will not turn on.



The screen could simply be faulty, but I am hoping it's something else, like anti-theft behaviour or something. The system is the factory standard one that comes with a remote and 2 wireless headphones.

The dealer had no clue and said I needed to just replace the entire unit for about $1000....

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated....

Do you get audio when starting the video? If you get neither then it's probably the DVD unit.
