I'm going to get a Yakima roof mounted bike rack for my Versa SL, I currently have my V on order and have no idea if the sunroof will hit the rack system.

Does anyone have a roof bike rack and a sunroof?

Do you have any issues with it hitting or getting in the way?

you should not have an issue. i had a sunroof on my prelude, and i had a roof rack. the only issue is that you cannot open the sunroof with the roof rack on.

Well, that's a big problem that I was trying to fiqure out. I need to have a roof rack and I do have the sunroof. I was hoping that someone would tell me that I had to modify the rack to allow the sunroof to open properly. What the point of having a sunroof if you can't open it.

i just told you, you cannot. so if you want to use the roof rack, you close the sun roof, when you want the sun roof, you remove the roof rack. you cant have both because of the height of the roof rack, and with the cross bar ususally sitting in the path of the sunroof, it wont work. sorry dude.

That's the trade off of a sunroof on a "low end" or small car... they almost always open to the exterior of the car. Higher end or larger cars retract the sunroofs inside the car's body, so it wouldn't interfere.

And you can't really "modify" roof racks without compromising their stability, so that's not an option.

The factory sunroof on my Versa does not open externally. It slides into a slot behind the opening. Other than the tilt mode, I don't see how it will interfere with roof rack.

That's excellent news, I told my wife that we'd just have to wait and see for ourselves.

Now we can wait, without worry.

Thanks so much.
