I'll bet this bill goes nowhere in a Republican controlled House. Republicans would rather keep wasting the money instead of actually accomplishing something with the expenditure. Or cut the spending.

I'm going to be optimistic, if he puts some figures forward, it may put some real pressure on the camps.

Im all for legalizing marijuana. A question though. Would anyone who is for decriminalization still support a company's ability to request a drug test, and discriminate based on its THC results? I'll just say, I would. But I also support a company's ability to discriminate based on smoking or drinking, even in private time.

I would be in favor of drug testing still. If someone came into an interview hungover/drunk I would take that into account during the hiring process (not exactly fair as drug testing looks over an extended period of time).

Oh I agree, I mean THC stays with you for what, a month? I mean you could be a "once a month toker" and still get busted just the same as a dragged out pot head. But how is a company to tell the difference? As far as they are concerned, its in your system, and that could mean you would do it on company time. That doesnt mean you will, but they have to cover their bases I guess. And the important thing to remember, the job is not the applicants, its the employers, so they should be free to determine how they fill that job, reasonably anyway. Gender and race equality are important, but even then, sometimes a job does call for those discriminations as well.

I would think they would no longer be able to ask the labs for results regarding THC. Its plausible that it may take some time and perhaps even some lawsuits over the issue but I think in the end, it will end up much like alcohol. While they can't fire you for being a drinker, they can fire you for behind drunk on the job or for behavior or actions occurring while under the influence.

As companies demand it I'm sure the technology will shortly be able to tell when it was used and how much is still in a person's system, just like alcohol testing is now. Demand for that from scientists hasn't been that intense up until now because any level is illegal under current regulations.
