I know the latest gen SR20s(non rwd) used a roller rocker setup. I have heard about people converting their car to a roller rocker by using lifters, machined shims, and rockers from the later engines. Some people say you need to change the cams while others say no. Does anyone have any definite info on this?

You need RR specific cams for RR setup.
