I am installing an S&W 10 point rollcage in my 91 hatchback.

I also installed the main hoop on the floor of where the back seats would go to give me better clearance between me and the main hoop. Main hoop is with in 6 inches of where my helmet would be still.

Does anyone know if the rear braces have to be parallel.I know the instructions for install say to make them parallel but is this an actual rule or just a suggestion.

I am having trouble finding info on this. I plan on using the carfor road racing and possibley some drag racing.

any info would be great .

thanks

If you intend on doing Road Racing, go to SCCA's website and check all of the rules on cages, and how the bends need to be in order to meet regulations which most sanctioning bodies that hold track days require. I would recommend reading the SCCA rules even before buying the cage, if you already havent.

you really want to read the rules for what you want to race in... there a spec as to where the main hoop is compared to where you head is(ie seat postion)... roll cages have some serious inspection criteara... not just where you want to put them

thanks for the input.

I already bought and installed everything but door bars. Not sure if I care to race around cones. I think I would rather just go to open track days where I can go as fast as I can. I bought the s&W because of budget. The car cost so much to build that I started running out of money,or should I say credit .

I would have to race in e-modified. at least from what I am told.

I just want a really fast street car that I can take to a track occasionally so that I do not get arrested for going 150 on the freeway.the rollcage is for my safety period because I like to drive fast in the canyons near where i live, and it will help to stiffen up chasis.not concerned if they let me race in scca and once I hit a speed on the dragstrip that they require the cage I got, if they don't like how it is setup, dont care, just want to see how fast it is anyways.will probably stitch weld some of car, particularly in engine bay and around rear shock towers.

going to run between 6-12 psi of booston a 350-400 horsepower motor. hoping for 550 whp at 10psi

Does anyone know how to post pics?

I got about a month a half left befor I can take it to get painted. can only build on weekends as my car is on a ranch that my dad built30 miles from where i live.

[IMG][/IMG]I got a mig welder recently so am going to grind down and redue welds on exhaust to turbo. I had cut off the collector from the passenger side and fabricated my own. Do not trust that it is air tight so I bought a collector and am going to redue with the mig.
